PlayoutONE: Help & Common Fixes Print

  • 0

PlayoutONE (by Aiir) is a lightweight, popular playout choice on our VMs. This article covers the basics, plus where to find Aiir's own documentation.

Where to find PlayoutONE's own documentation

Aiir maintain full documentation at support.aiir.com, including guides to the Monitor screen, the command reference, and upgrading between versions.

Restarting PlayoutONE

Occasionally PlayoutONE needs a restart — usually after a Windows Update, or if it's been running for an extended period without a reboot. The process is straightforward:

  1. Click the close icon in the top-right corner of PlayoutONE and confirm you want to close it
  2. Wait around 15 seconds for it to fully shut down
  3. Double-click the PlayoutONE icon on the desktop to reopen it
  4. If a countdown appears, playback resumes automatically. If not, right-click the log, choose Find Nearest To Now, confirm, then click Play

Getting back on air after a restart

The "Find Nearest To Now" step above is the important one — it re-syncs PlayoutONE's log position to the current time, rather than resuming from wherever it left off. Skipping this is the most common reason stations find themselves playing the wrong item after a restart.

Navigating Monitor

If you're new to PlayoutONE, Aiir's "Navigating Monitor" article on their support site is the best starting point for understanding the main playout screen — worth reading before you need it under pressure.
