PlayIt Live: Help & Common Fixes Print

  • 0

PlayIt Live (by PlayIt Software) is a modern, actively developed playout option available on our VMs. This article covers the most common issues, plus where to find PlayIt's own documentation.

Where to find PlayIt Live's own documentation

PlayIt Software's documentation lives at playitsoftware.com, with a full support portal for troubleshooting, scheduling, and broadcasting topics.

No audio / sound issues

PlayIt Software maintain a dedicated audio troubleshooting guide covering output device selection, sample rate mismatches, and driver conflicts — worth checking first if you've got no sound reaching your stream. As with other playout software, re-check the selected output device after any Windows Update.

Starting PlayIt Live automatically on login

If you'd like PlayIt Live to launch automatically whenever the VM starts or you log in (useful after a scheduled restart), PlayIt Software's documentation covers how to enable automation on login — this saves having to manually reopen it every time.

Running out of storage for your AudioStore

If your music library is approaching your VM's disk allowance, PlayIt Live lets you change the location of its AudioStore folder to a different drive. Contact us first if you think you need more storage added to your VM — it's often simpler for us to expand your existing drive than to relocate the AudioStore.

Broadcasting to Shoutcast/Icecast

PlayIt Live can stream directly to Shoutcast and Icecast servers, including your Mediasite streaming service. Use the connection details from "How to Connect" in your client area (see our streaming connection article) when setting up the output in PlayIt Live.

Running more than one instance on the same VM

If you're running multiple stations from a single VM, PlayIt Live supports running multiple instances side by side — see PlayIt Software's documentation for the setup steps, as each instance needs its own configuration folder to avoid conflicts.

Not sure whether an issue is PlayIt Live or your VM? Contact us and we'll help narrow it down.
