How to Connect and Go Live Print

  • 0

There are two ways to broadcast live to your station, depending on your setup.

Option 1: The default live connection

Every service comes with a default login. You'll find the exact details — hostname, port, and password — under the "How to Connect" button on your Station Overview page.

Important: these details change depending on whether AutoDJ is running. If AutoDJ is offline, you'll connect directly to the streaming service; once AutoDJ is started, you connect to the AutoDJ service instead so it can hand control back to your live source. Refresh the page after starting AutoDJ to make sure you're looking at the current details.

Option 2: Individual DJ logins

If you want separate presenters to have their own private login (rather than sharing one), set these up via DJ Manager — see our separate article on setting up DJ accounts. This requires AutoDJ to be running.

Each DJ connects using:

  • Protocol: Icecast 2 (this applies even if your station itself runs on Shoutcast)
  • Port: your AutoDJ port (usually in the 6000s)
  • Mount point: unique per DJ, e.g. /mattl

Which broadcasting software should I use?

Most encoder software (BUTT, Mixxx, OBS, etc.) supports the Icecast protocol, and we'd recommend it over Shoutcast's own protocol, which fewer applications support properly. DJ priority (see the DJ Manager article) only works over Icecast.

Forgotten a DJ password?

Passwords are stored securely and can't be revealed, but you can reset one any time from DJ Manager → Edit on that DJ's account.

Stuck connecting? Contact us with your station name and we'll get you sorted.
